Description

Long time since the last paleo-drawing I submitted, so...

So this is "Trieboldia". No, it's not the official name. It just sounded cool. This is the famous Hell Creek caenagnathid, an animal referred to Chirostenotes. Not so sure about it. Anyway, it's a big bird/dinosaur/whateveritis.

EDIT (March 2014): the Hell Creek Caenagnathid has a new name - Anzu wyliei! You can read more about it here: ktboundary-smnt2000.blogspot.i…

Oviraptorosaurs are just weird. they're like a cross between a parrot, a peacock and an ostrich. I bet on it, they were gorgeous as living and breathing creatures.

The beak and the crest are restored after Jaime A. Headden's posts about oviraptorosaurs' beaks. Long tail feathers are given after a study about peacock-like behaviours and stuff like that in these dinosaurs. And some inspiration from the works of Matt Martyniuk too.

Edit: darkened the green feathers after the tips that Martyniuk and dfellow deviantartist Tomozaurus gave me.

Chirostenotes (named from Greek 'narrow-handed') is a genus of oviraptorosaurian dinosaur from the late Cretaceous (about 75 million years ago) of Alberta, Canada. The type species is Chirostenotes pergracilis. Some researchers recognize a second species, C. elegans. Several larger skeletons from the early Maastrichtian Horseshoe Canyon Formation of Alberta and Hell Creek Formation of Montana and South Dakota have been referred to Chirostenotes in the past, though more recent studies concluded that they represent several new species. The Horseshore Canyon formation specimen was renamed Epichirostenotes in 2011, while the Hell Creek Formation specimens are still being studied. The latter specimens are more complete and of a considerable size: in 2010 Gregory S. Paul estimated the length of the South Dakotan Hell Creek specimens at 4 metres, the weight at 350 kilograms.

Coloured with Tria Markers, Pencils and Adobe Photoshop. Based on green ara and cassowary.

Enjoy it!

Ps: Sorry about the colours' quality. Bad scanner.

Hello I am doing a case for the Denver Gem and Mineral Show on dinosaurs of the Hell Creek Formation. I was wondering if I could put this image on one of my labels for a partial Anzu claw
